Skin Cancer Checks

95% of skin cancers can be cured if detected early!

Ellen health offers comprehensive skin checks, and removal of abnormal moles and skin cancers. We have a dedicated clinic for skin checks and minor surgical procedures on Thursday mornings.

To enable a thorough skin check, please book a 15 minute appointment with your GP to allow assessment of your family history of skin cancer, your personal sun exposure history, your skin type, as well as a full top to toe body check.

Skin diseases (Dermatology) are a significant part of our daily work at Ellen Health. The doctors on this page have a particular interest and experience in skin cancer medicine.

Ellen Health has a dedicated clinic for skin checks

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Australia by far, and the rates of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer are increasing. Prevention and early detection are the best strategies:

  • Avoid harmful UV radiation … especially in the middle of the day.
  • Get to know your own moles and freckles. See your GP if any moles are changing size, colour or shape.
  • Have a skin check every 12 months when you’re over 40 years of age.
  • Be extra vigilant if you had a lot of sunburns or if you are particularly fair skinned. Regular careful skin checks are best practice if you have a family history of melanomas or you have a large number of moles.
